Editorial standards
Our Editorial Standards
How Consulting Media’s newsroom reports, edits and stays independent of commercial interests.
Independence
Consulting Media’s journalism is produced by a newsroom that operates independently of our commercial teams. Advertisers, sponsors and customers of Consulting Media Publish have no influence over what our journalists cover, how they cover it, or where their work appears.
Commercial staff do not attend editorial meetings, and editors are not compensated based on revenue from any company we cover.
Accuracy and sourcing
Every factual claim in a Consulting Media story must be supported by a source the editor can verify. We prefer primary sources — filings, datasets, documents and on-the-record interviews — over secondary reporting.
Anonymous sources are used only when the information is essential, cannot be obtained on the record, and at least one editor knows the source’s identity. We explain to readers why anonymity was granted.
- Numbers are checked against their source before publication.
- Quotes are recorded or documented in contemporaneous notes.
- Companies named in critical reporting are given a meaningful opportunity to respond.
Conflicts of interest
Journalists disclose holdings, relationships and outside work that could create a conflict. Reporters may not cover companies in which they hold a direct financial interest, and markets staff may not trade individual securities in sectors they cover.
Use of artificial intelligence
Consulting Media uses AI tools for transcription, translation drafts, data analysis and search optimization suggestions. AI does not write published journalism. A human editor is accountable for every published word, and AI-assisted analysis is disclosed when it materially shapes a story.
